At Self, The New York Post reports that Bartolomeo will be an entertainment and features editor director.

There have been several cuts across a few Condé Nast titles. The New York Post reports eight staffers from Self and Susan Portnoy, vice president of corporate communications for the past seven years, were cut.

Additionally, Logan Hill from GQ was let go. “Budget cuts got me,” tweeted Hill. “Loved my colleagues at GQ and the magazine, but now I’m a freelance writer.”

There are also expected to be cuts at Glamour and Fairchild Fashion Media.

Lewin was most recently a consultant for several mass luxury media brands. Prior to that she served as associate publisher, marketing, for Harper’s Bazaar and Good Housekeeping.

“Renee’s brand development expertise, leadership ability and creative talent will be great assets to our management team as Self’s brand footprint continues to expand on multiple platforms,” said Laura McEwen, vice president and publisher of Self, in a statement.

Lewin’s appointment is effective immediately.

She just completed her third Ironman, and not only that, shaved 30 minutes of her personal best time. An Ironman consists of swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 and then — yes and then — running a marathon.

Congrats to Danziger. Especially for being able to swim in the Hudson without vomiting. “The swim was easy,” she told WWD. “There was no sign of any kind of ugliness in the water.”

Sure there wasn’t.

According to Adweek, the site — which launches in September — is being tabbed as a “virtual trunk show,” where visitors can browse products hand-picked by Self’s staff, which are presented in a catalogue format. If a person likes something, they can save it in their “look book,” share it with others via social media or even click through and purchase it.

As might guess, this site is music to advertisers’ ears. Laura McEwen, vice president and publisher of Self, understands this, though she puts it in a more eloquent way.

“Self’s Virtual Trunk Show enables consumers to curate their own style while aligning with Self’s editorial fashion expertise and our advertisers’ brands,” McEwen told Adweek. “This site will also align Self more closely with our fashion and beauty partners.”

That’s a lot of aligning.

Maher had been Hearst Digital’s Executive Director of Content since June of 2010.

Prior to her time at Hearst, Maher was Executive Editor of Forbes for three years. She also has had stints as a Ladies’ Home Journal Senior Editor and as a Features Editor for People.com.

She has worked closely with the Shape staff in the past on integrated programs and thoroughly understands the health & fitness marketplace.”

Elliott will also assume the role of Publisher of Shape, which will be vacated by Brian Gruseke in April, as we noted this morning.

As if to quantify that, she explains, “I’m prouder of my weight loss than my Oscar.” As you might remember, Hudson won an Oscar for her stellar performance in the 2006 film Dreamgirls.

While we’re in no position to judge, that’s kind of sad, isn’t it? You’d think that earning an award for her craft would be one of the highlights of her life, but instead, she’s more focused – or maybe we should say forced to be focused by the media – on being skinny.

Hudson is a spokesperson for Weight Watchers, so maybe she just got a little overzealous. We just wish that she considered her accomplishments first, and her weight second. Or maybe even third or fourth.

Today it gathers the 10 best, along with a brief explanation why it deserves to make this list. While all the magazines featured are great, some of the reasons for them being selected fall short.

There’s The New Yorker, included for its simplicity, Self, for the various interactive features, and People, which boasts double the pictures that are included in its print version. Those are all great reasons for being included on the list.

But then, Business Insider says Esquire is in the top 10 because it has “Men’s fashion tips, videos of beautiful women.”

Uh, so does the website. We’re thinking the writer got bored at this point, because that doesn’t really do much for us.
