Serene Branson Reflects on Grammy Scare

CBS2 reporter Serene Branson gave viewers quite the scare one year ago during a live report from the 2011 Grammys when she started to slur her speech and struggled to get her words out.

While Branson appeared to be having a stroke on live TV, she was actually suffering from a migraine.

“On one hand, it feels like it was just yesterday because I still remember those feelings so vividly. But, on the other hand, I feel like I’ve come so far and I’m much more comfortable sitting here talking with you about it now than I was a year ago,” Branson told fellow CBS2 colleague Pat Harvey.

Was CBS Reporter Serene Branson Secretly Microwaved?

Good Morning America reporter John Berman had a lot of fun today with crazy speculation being floated around the Internet by conspiracy theorists. Namely, that local CBS 2 reporter Serene Branson‘s infamous live Grammy report flub was the result of a top secret U.S. government microwave brain ray experiment.

These conspiracy theorists think the same subterfuge may have encompassed the “migraine” and “chronic fatigue” problems of others as well. Or, as Berman put it: “It does beg the question, why would the government want to attack a Grammy reporter, a Canadian [Mark McAllister], and Judge Judy? But hey, no one said government conspiracies have to make sense; plus, it might help explain my live flub last week.”

KCBS’s Serene Branson on the Early Show: ‘I Didn’t Have a Stroke’

KCBS reporter Serene Branson went on the Early Show this morning to explain that her odd on-air case of word salad while reporting outside the Grammy Awards–a video clip that has since gone viral–was not caused by a stroke, but instead by an “extreme migraine.” She does say her hand and her right cheek both went numb. Scary.

The clinical definition for what she suffered is “migraine aura.”

Serene Branson of CBS 2 Suffers Bizarre Speech Impediment on Live TV

While covering the Grammys Sunday night, television reporter Serene Branson began slurring her words and speaking gibberish:

In light of rumors that Branson had suffered a stroke, CBS 2 posted a statement online:

Serene Branson was examined by paramedics on scene immediately after her broadcast. Her vital signs were normal. She was not hospitalized. As a precautionary measure, a colleague gave her a ride home and she says that she is feeling fine this morning.

We’re hoping she was just drunk. On Justin Bieber’s good looks, naturally.
