Pair of Extra Executives Go After the ‘Haters’

New York Times showbiz correspondent Brooks Barnes has a preview of H8R, the CW half-hour reality show debuting Wednesday. Created by Extra producers Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey and Jeremy Spiegel, and hosted by their program’s on-air personality Mario Lopez, it all sounds rather contrived.

On each episode, a pair of celebrities are shown videotaped rants made by someone who “hates” them and then track down those people for a “surprise” encounter. There’s no doubt the underlying issue here is serious, but nothing in Barnes’ piece suggests the show will come close to a strange bit of family gravitas linkage involving Gregorisch-Dempsey:

One of her cousins is Glenn Berman, the New Jersey judge presiding over the trial of Dharun Ravi, who is accused of secretly taping his Rutgers University roommate [Tyler Clementi] having an intimate encounter with another man and streaming the images online. The roommate committed suicide a few days later.

Help Get WebNewser’s Steve Krakauer Out Of Here

celebrity.png Despite what the title of this post suggests, we are quite fond of our colleague from WebNewser and TVNewser, Steve Krakauer. So, when we heard he was competing in the “I’m a Blogger…Get Me Out of Here!” contest, we wanted to help him out.

The winner of the contest, which is part of promotional efforts for NBC‘s upcoming reality show “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!”, will get sent to Costa Rica to blog during the show. And since Steve professes that this is his “lifelong dream,” we had to do our part and vote. And you should, too!

Here’s a little bit more info about the contest, from its Web site:

We pit bloggers against each other in a contest to see who can survive to the final round, and win a trip to live blog behind the scenes at the “I’m a Celebrity” set in Costa Rica!

Three rounds will present our bloggers with challenges about bugs, beauty, being a celebrity and surviving the jungle. And you decide who makes it to the next round.

Check out Steve’s first post about bullet ants (no thank you) and botflies (yuck). We were worried that, were he to win, Steve might encounter these scary creepy crawlers when he gets to Costa Rica. But thankfully, bloggers don’t get to go outside much. But unfortunately, we think Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are more scary than bullet ants anyway.

We were shown an email on a Blackberry inviting the recipient to the wedding of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt tomorrow in Pasadena.

Ah, you crazy kids and your vows…

Spencer Pratt And Heidi Montag Casting New Reality TV Show

Arguably the most annoying couple ever created by reality television, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag are producing a little TV spawn of their own. FBLA editor Tina just spotted the flier below on the USC campus:
