American Express Publishing Promotes Sean Murphy

American Express Publishing has promoted Sean Murphy from director of content for custom media, to vice president, custom media. Murphy has been with AmEx Publishing since May of last year. Prior to joining the company, he ran a content strategy consulting agency that worked with such brands as American Airlines and Nivea.

“Sean’s 20-plus years of magazine and digital media experience coupled with his talent for leveraging content as a business marketing solution make him an unrivaled asset to the Custom Media team,” said Stacey Staaterman, AmEx Publishing’s vice president, corporate integrated marketing & sales. “I look forward to seeing the strides he makes within an increasingly significant division of the company.”

Murphy will report to Staaterman.

Michaela Guzy Jumps Moves Up The Ladder At American Express Publishing

According to a company statement, American Express Publishing Co. VP of corporate marketing and sales Stacey Staaterman tapped Michaela Guzy for VP of global travel and strategic development.  Guzy’s new title will put her in charge of Amex Pub’s marketing and sales initiatives for accounts based in the Southeast U.S., Caribbean, Canada, Mexico, Central/South America, India, and Europe.

Staaterman is excited about the new hire and the potential to broaden the publisher’s influence:

“We are thrilled to have someone so experienced and well-connected in the travel industry to help American Express Publishing expand in this critical endemic advertising category. Michaela will be working on strategies to enhance our travel authority globally and domestically in support of our many partnerships and relationships in this important sector”

Guzy has previously served as VP of travel and business development at the company’s Travel + Leisure magazine.  She also worked at Town & Country prior to joining American Express Publishing in 2007.  Guzy will start her new role on Nov. 16.
