Stevie Wonder Forgets the Words to His Own Christmas Song

Ha ha. It doesn’t get much more fun than this.

At the top of an appearance today on Good Day LA to promote the 17th annual edition of his “House Full Of Toys” fundraising concert at the Nokia Theatre, Stevie Wonder picked up on a Justin Bieber duet clip from last year’s edition and started performing “Someday at Christmas.” At one point, he forgot how the lyrics go but kept right on going:

“… And I’m messing up my own words. That’s OK because I’m with Steve [Edwards]. So he’ll forgive me on this show…”

Jillian Reynolds Fills In the Blanks on Facebook

In the wake of yesterday’s latest Good Day LA shuffle, Canadian-born, LA-shaped Jillian Barberie Reynolds has posted additional information about her exit on Facebook. She wants everyone to know that she was not exactly sacked:

I wasn’t let go as in fired. In fact, FOX was trying to find something for me to do a few times a week. But the truth is I loved being on set. Teasing Steve doing celebrity interviews and working off script and ad libbing! It’s what I do.

I could not imagine doing any other role on that show after almost two decades!! They were hoping I would stay and do segments from the field of some sort but I told them I didn’t think it was a good fit. I love hosting. I just do!! My agent told them we weren’t interested. So…

Tom Snyder Producer Remembers His Trailblazing, Angels-Hating Boss

In honor of this weekend’s doubly momentous anniversary date of July 29, which is both the article author’s birthday and the date his beloved former boss Tom Snyder passed away in 2007, Michael Horowicz has penned a wonderful remembrance at tvweek.com. As the reader comments bear witness, Snyder left an indelible mark.

From 1993 to 1998, Horowicz worked with Snyder in LA for CNBC and CBS. There’s a funny story in the article about how he would accompany the talk show host to the Bel Air Country Club every Thursday night for dinner, but only so Snyder could meet his monthly required minimum member spending limit. We thought it would be fun to hear a few more anecdotes about the legendary media figure’s wide-ranging LA career.

“In 1960, Snyder was fired from his reporter’s job at KTLA,” Horowicz, who recently left WNBC in New York to pursue his own projects with business partner Susan Winston, tells FishbowlLA. “He was crushed and out for revenge. There was only one thing he could do, which was place a curse on the Los Angeles Angels, set to premiere a few months later in the American League. Both the Angels and KTLA were owned by Gene Autry.”

Horowicz says he learned about the curse many years later, in 1995, while watching an Angels game in the CBS conference room with colleagues. Snyder noticed and mentioned the curse that night during his monologue.

Jillian Reynolds Apologizes to Dorothy Lucey

Get ready for at least one more day of tears on Fox 11′s Good Day LA.

On Thursday, Jillian Reynolds apologized to the departing Dorothy Lucey for all of the mean things she’s said about her during their 17-year run together.

The real winner in this segment was Steve Edwards, who received a Dorothy-Jillian sandwich hug.

I’m on to you, Steve.

Major Changes Coming for Good Day LA

Get ready for some new faces on Fox 11′s Good Day LA.

Dorothy Lucey is leaving the morning show and Jillian Reynolds is transitioning from a full time employee to a freelancer, according to Deadline.com:

I hear Lucey’s contract was not renewed and her last day will be later this week, possibly on Friday. Additionally, Lucey’s co-anchor Jillian Reynolds will switch from a full-time KTTV employee to freelance status. She will continue in her current duties on Good Morning LA but not always five days a week.

The show will hold on-air auditions in the coming weeks in hopes of finding a replacement for Lucey. This is a huge departure for KTTV as the Good Day LA co-anchor has worked alongside Reynolds and Steve Edwards since 1995.

Howie Mandel, Media Critic

Pretty funny appearance this morning on Good Day LA by comedian Howie Mandel. There to promote his FOX spontaneous flash mob series Mobbed, the comedian instead began by focusing on the program’s format.

“You’re the only show that is so much concerned for the guests that we won’t make it from over there to the desk,” he observed as he was escorted from camera-right by Steve Edwards. And perhaps hinting at some heated internal meetings, Jillian Reynolds replied that she has never been a fan of the practice, wishing that instead guest segments would start from the desk.

Richard ‘Flash’ Johnson Drops In on Good Day LA

On this morning’s edition of Good Day LA, co-host Steve Edwards jokingly welcomed The Daily’s Richard Johnson as “Flash Johnson,” in honor of his new column name. This despite the fact that there’s nothing about the personal make-up of the former Page Six-er that suggests lightning speed.

The main topic of conversation was a controversial remark made by Susan Sarandon over the weekend to panel moderator Bob Balaban at the Hamptons International Film Festival. In the misguided spirit of Hank Williams Jr. and Lars von Trier, she attached the dreaded Nazi word to a pontiff!:

Roy Firestone Debuts on KCET with Look at Tabloid Media

As big fans of Roy Firestone, FishbowlLA has already set its DVR for KCET tonight. At 8:30 p.m, the veteran TV personality and great mimic will add the channel to his repertoire with the first of several half-hour specials bannered as L.A. Tonight with Roy Firestone.

His opening focus, discussed with TMZ’s Havey Levin, Steve Edwards of Good Day LA, and defense attorney Mark Geragos could not be more topical. It’s all about today’s online tabloids. From the show notes:

The group discusses the evolution, ethics, and drivers behind today’s sensational celebrity-driven news climate and explores if Hollywood has taken over substantive issues in today’s headlines. During the episode, Edwards notes, “There are no gatekeepers anymore. There are no gates anymore.” Levin remarks at one point: “I’m just tired of Paris Hilton. I’m tired of the same old, same old stories. I’m interested in strategic things about Hollywood.”

La Toya Jackson Adds a Few Extra Zeroes on Good Day LA

As part of La Toya Jackson‘s promotional tour for her new book Starting Over, she dropped in this morning on FOX’s Good Day LA to chat with Steve Edwards and the rest of the affable gang.

The celeb sibling is making headlines with her conspiracy theorizing about Michael’s death, but let’s just hope her grasp of circumstantial evidence is better than her knowledge of her late brother’s Sony/ATV music catalog. About two minutes into the interview, Jackson mentioned that the MJ Family Trust co-owned entity encompasses an astounding 750 million individual compositions:
