Gregg Hano to Bonnier’s Mag+, Steve Grune Succeeds Him

Gregg Hano has been named CEO of Mag+, Bonnier’s digital publishing platform. Hano was most recently Bonnier’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Sales and The Technology Group, a position he had been at since November of last year.

Hano holds Mag+ in high regard. “The platform lets content creators focus on what matters most — content — and fully take advantage of this amazing ecosystem,” said Hano. “This is the future of publishing and I’m excited to be a part of it.”

Hano begins his new position May 7.

Steve Grune, most recently a Group Publisher at Bonnier, will succeed Hano.

Bonnier Names Group Publisher of Technology Group

Bonnier Corporation has named Steve Grune its new Group Publisher, Technology Group. Grune succeeds Gregg Hano, who was promoted last week. Grune now oversees Popular Science, Popular Photography, American Photo and Sound +
Vision.

“Steve has been an incredible leader since his first day on the job,” said Hano, who will be working closely with Grune. “He has been instrumental in the Technology Group’s successes— especially in the digital space — and this promotion better represents his value both to the Group and to Bonnier as a whole.”

Former Cooking Light SVP Chris Allen Named Publisher Of Country Living

October 2009 Cover.jpgHearst Magazines today announced the appointment of Chris Allen as vice president/publisher of Country Living magazine — America’s bestselling shelter magazine on newsstands.

Allen, formerly of Time Inc.‘s Cooking Light, is replacing Steve Grune, who is making a move into Hearst’s Integrated Media group.

Allen previously worked for 17 years at Cooking Light, as associate publisher and then senior vice president, publisher. He has also worked at People, Yachting magazine, Cruising World magazine and New England Monthly.

Also today, there were reports of editorial change at Allen’s former home Cooking Light. The Media of Birmingham blog reported that editor-in-chief Mary Kay Culpepper will be departing the Southern Progress publication on October 1, to be replaced by Scott Mowbray, who has been working as executive editor Time Inc.’s Lifestyle Group since this spring.

A Time Inc. publicist confirmed Culpepper’s move to FishbowlNY, adding that she will be starting a creativity studies graduate program in New York next spring. Cooking Light has also recently undergone a redesign. The revamped magazine hit newsstands August 25.
