Sugar Inc. to Acquire Social Network for Moms

Sugar Inc. will be acquiring Circle of Moms, a social network for moms and moms-to-be.

Circle of Moms originally launched on Facebook in 2008 and now serves a community of 6 million moms.

Upon the close of the acquisition, the social network will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Sugar Inc. and will continue to operate independently.

“Acquiring Circle of Moms enables us to extend the reach of our existing mom audience, offer more valuable content, and strengthen our social community” said Brian Sugar, co-founder and CEO of Sugar Inc. “Circle of Moms has successfully established itself as a leading brand within this highly-coveted demographic. We’re thrilled to welcome the Circle of Moms team to Sugar and partner together in the next phase of our growth.”

If you love style and shopping, we have just the gig for you. Sugar Inc. is on the hunt for a New York fashion editor, who can spot trends before they explode; hone in on who and what a celebrity is wearing; and point out the best places to get all of the above.

Beyond knowing what’s hot this season, you should be comfortable with researching, writing and producing daily content for Sugar Inc., including features, interviews and how-tos. You’ll attend many events, such as New York Fashion Week, and be expected to keep your finger on the pulse of the industry.

To be considered, you’ll need three to five years of experience in fashion writing/editing for print or online. You should be willing to work nights and weekends for special events and be able to turn around clean, witty copy in a flash. If you think this job fits your style, apply here.

Gawker Named ‘Most Valuable Blog’

gawkggger.jpgGawker may be slimming down…again! But that hasn’t stopped finance blog 24/7 Wall St. from naming it the most ‘valuable’ blog out there in its top 25 ranking.

The site explains its full criteria here, and points out that the list does not include blogs which are part of larger companies “because the traffic of these properties is almost never broken out,” or blogs that do not have revenue (i.e. The Daily Beast “does not take advertising or sell products. In theory, it has little if any economic value at all.”).

That said, the top five are as follows: Gawker, HuffPo, Drudge, Perez Hilton, Sugar Inc. The recently much-talked-about Politico clocks in at number 10. The site had this to say about Gawker:
