‘Anonymous’ Palin Hacker Anonymous No More?

Rest easy Bill O’Reilly, Threat Level is now reporting that the FBI has indeed narrowed the focus of it search for the Sarah Palin email hacker to Tennessee college student David Kernell, also the son of Democratic Tennessee state representative Mike Kernell. Per Threat Level:

According to a witness, several agents arrived at Kernell’s Knoxville apartment in The Commons student housing complex shortly after midnight on Sunday morning while a party was in progress. Kernell and some of his friends reportedly fled when agents arrived, though the local TV station that reported the raid is a bit unclear about this detail. FBI agents asked partygoers who did not live in the apartment to wait outside while they photographed the residence.

Charges have yet to be filed in the case, though Bill O’Reilly is trying his best to remedy that immediately.

O’Reilly Thinks Nick Denton Should Go to Jail, and Other Stories of New York Media Doing the MSM’s Job For Them

No one is safe! Threat Level, the new go-to for all hacker stories, is reporting that a hacker has claimed to have infiltrated Bill O’Reilly‘s website and “purloined a list of subscribers to the site, which includes their names, e-mail addresses, city and state, and the password they use for their registration to the site.” This is apparently in retaliation for O’Reilly’s comments about the “despicable, slimy, scummy” website that posted (or, say, “repackaged“) the Sarah Palin emails — we are assuming he is referring to Gawker. During the same segment O’Reilly asks Townhall’s Amanda Carpenter why the Feds can’t just go to the guy’s house who runs it (or say to his big roof party the other night) and “put him in cuffs and take him down and book him?” Because if the government can’t protect the world, or a governor using a private email address to conduct government business, from Nick Denton‘s Gawker we ought to just “pack it up.” Of course right this second the Feds may be too interested reliving the Great Depression to fast forward into a 2.0 version of McCarthy, but stay tuned!

Denton isn’t the only New York media type making the rounds of the worst person in the cable news world.

‘The Palin Hack Didn’t Require Any Real Skill’

Secret Service take note! The Wired blog Threat Level has picked up on a posting by a person claiming to be “anonymous” detailing how they hacked into Sarah Palin‘s email account. Hint: It apparently wasn’t that hard.

But wait! It gets better. Bloggers at the chat room where the the post appeared have apparently traced the poster to an email address belonging to a college student in Tennessee. Threat Level says they reached the student’s father by phone…the student’s father is a Democratic state representative in Tennessee. We should point out that no charges have been filed and the father in question told Threat Level that neither he nor his son have been contacted by authorities, which could either mean they are completely innocent or that someone needs to give the FBI a course in the Google.
