Mike Tyson’s Latest Career Move Involves a ‘Fowl-Mouthed’ Pigeon

Seth MacFarlane, Trey Parker and Matt Stone can all claim a legacy piece of Mike Tyson Mysteries, a new weekly quarter-hour show green lit for Adult Swim. The show will mix in live-action footage of Tyson with a cartoon sidekick that owes a lot to Stewie Griffin and Cartman.

Per a report by TheWrap TV editor Tim Molloy:

Armed with a magical tattoo on his face and a trusty associate by his side — a talking pigeon — if you have a problem that needs solving, Iron Mike is in your corner. The series incorporates live-action appearances featuring Mighty Mike himself, and the gloves come off as the former heavyweight champ and his fowl-mouthed partner gear up for weekly adventures as they put unsolved mysteries.

South Park Creators to Launch ‘Important Studios’

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are apparently sick of Hollywood studio oversight–as they ready the inevitable film version of their Broadway hit Book of Mormon. The pair have been saving their syndication money, and let the New York Times know over the weekend that they plan on launching their own $300 million production studio: called “Important Studios.”

“Having worked with several different studios over the years, we came to realize that our favorite people in the world are ourselves,” the pair said in a statement.

Parker and Stone also courted $60 million in backing from Raine Group head Joseph Ravitch.

“Ten years ago, you needed that studio machinery to start cranking its marketing muscle,” Stone told the Times. “Now we could market a movie-size project. We bring a lot of heft.”

Trey Parker, Matt Stone Treat Media to Book of Mormon Encore

Following Saturday night’s preview performance of smash musical The Book of Mormon, which begins a 12-week west coast run at the Pantages tomorrow night, FishbowlLA and a select group of other media folks hung around for an informal press conference with show co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. (Robert Lopez, the third person responsible for the scintillating book, music and lyrics, did not attend.)

The Tony Award winning tandem confirmed not a word has been changed from the Broadway and Denver incarnations. That includes the genital double-down line repeated throughout by a resident of the Ugandan village where Latter-Day Saint newbies Elder Price (Gavin Creel) and Elder Cunningham (Jared Gertner) arrive to spread the Mormon gospel. We don’t want to spoil the fun by mentioning the specifics. However, to FishbowlLA’s opening press conference question about whether other dialogue was considered for this hilarious running gag, Stone confirmed a longstanding previous punchline.

“It’s funny,” he recalled. “That particular song, “American Prophet,” used to be called “The Bible is a Trilogy.” It was kind of a joke about how the third part of a film trilogy is always the best movie, and how the first Matrix was *actually* the best… The African guy stepped forward and said, ‘Can you imagine if The Matrix had ended after the first one?’ And then he sang, “I actually thought the third Matrix was the worst one.”

“We had that in there for the longest time,” Parker continued. “But then we finally thought we can’t do the Bible as a trilogy thing [The Book of Mormon being the additional, third part to the Old and New Testaments], so we changed it to this other song and realized we had lost that great line. We wondered what else the villager could say when he comes forward and we came up with…”

South Park Renewed Through 2016

Comedy Central announced today that it has renewed its flagship show South Park for another three seasons–taking the show through 2016. That will be its 20th season. Which makes us feel incredibly old.

“Comedy Central has been our home for 15 years and we love working there,” South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone said in a release. “South Park is a blast and we can’t wait to make more.”

South Park‘s 15th season finale airs tonight at 10. Or, if you’re feeling a little more 21st century, you can watch it online whenever you feel like it.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone on 60 Minutes

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone got the 60 Minutes treatment over the weekend for their overwhelming takeover of Broadway–thanks to their hit show The Book of Mormon. Not much new ground broken, but the pair are always entertaining. The web exclusive video above about how South Park gets made in only six days is probably more interesting than the piece itself.

LA Times Delves Into the Muddy Waters of Penis Length

How in the crap did we miss this!!!? On the Fourth of July, the LA Times ran perhaps the most RIDICULOUS story we have ever seen. Seriously, if the byline was Trey Parker from South Park we wouldn’t have been surprised. The er…nut of the story…is that neither big hands nor big feet are indicators of a large penis, “the ratio of the length of his index finger to that of his ring finger,” is the telltale sign.

Dr. Tae Beom Kim, a urologist at Gachon University in Incheon, Korea, and his colleagues studied 144 men over the age of 20 who were undergoing urological surgery for conditions that do not affect the length of the penis. One member of the team carefully measured the lengths of the index and ring fingers on the subject’s right hand before surgery — left hands are thought to be more variable. A second team member then measured penis length immediately after the subject had been anesthetized. The length was measured both when the penis was flaccid and when it had been stretched as much as possible. Stretched length is thought to correlate to erect length, the team wrote. The team found that, in general, the lower the ratio of the lengths of the two fingers, the longer the stretched length of the penis.

Salt Lake City Reporter Buttonholes The Book of Mormon

According to showbiz columnist Roger Friedman, The Book of Mormon Broadway musical producer Scott Rudin is having a big media elite pow wow lunch tomorrow in New York to stoke the fires of Matt Stone and Trey Parker‘s highly anticipated new venture, set to open Thursday March 24th.

But from a west coast media perspective, it makes much more sense to see how the show is being advance-played in the state of its creative genesis. Salt Lake City Tribune reporter Peggy Fletcher recently shared an intriguing Q&A with Stone. The lede is pretty funny:

Matt Stone, one half the South Park writing duo, is not now, nor has he ever been a Mormon. Neither is his creative partner, Trey Parker. They don’t have Mormons in their family trees, despite rumors to the contrary circulating madly online and in Mormon circles.

South Park Terrorist Zachary Chesser Sentenced to 25 Years in Jail

Zachary Chesser, the man who told South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker they would “wind up like Theo Van Gogh,” the Dutch filmmaker who was murdered by radical Islamists, was just sentenced to 25 years in Federal prison yesterday. Chesser’s sentence includes time for attempting to join Al-Queda, as well as his threats against Parker and Stone.

“Zachary Chesser will spend 25 years in prison for advocating the murder of U.S. citizens for engaging in free speech about his religion,” U.S. Attorney Neil MacBride said yesterday. “His actions caused people throughout the country to fear speaking out–even in jest–to avoid being labeled as enemies who deserved to be killed.”

Weird Movie Title, Even Weirder PR Pitch

To do full justice to the name of the following indie film spoof, imagine reading the title aloud in the style of Pee-wee Herman‘s wind-up delivery. It’s called Night of the Day of the Dawn of the Son of the Bride of the Return of the Revenge of the Terror of the Attack of the Evil, Mutant, Hellbound, Flesh-Eating, Crawling, Alien & Zombified, Subhumanoid Living Dead… Part 5

Even stranger is the offer being made by the parody film’s hostess, former Long Island foster child Angelica, to a list of celebrities that includes Hollywood comedy royalty Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, Seth MacFarlane, Trey Parker and Matt Stone. If one of these targets agrees to review the movie, she and her partners (director James Riffel, co-writer Mark Zobian) are promising to pass on a check for $10,000 that can be donated to a charity of the celebrity’s choice.

Man Who Threatened ‘South Park’ Creators Over Mohammed Depiction Pleads Guilty

Twenty-year-old Zachary Adam Chesser plead guilty in federal court this week to charges of communicating threats and soliciting crimes of violence. Chesser, if you remember, was the kid who went on a radical Islamic site and posted threats against South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone over their decision to depict the Islamic profit Mohammed in a bear suit.

“We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show. This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them.”

Chesser also pleaded guilty to perhaps the more serious charge of supporting Somali terrorists. He copped a plea with prosecutors that would allow him to serve no less than 20 years in prison.
