Cosby Show, Family Ties and Regis Philbin Among Honorees at TV Land Awards in New York

For the first time in its nine-year history, the TV Land Awards pulled up stakes in Los Angeles and headed for New York, bringing a Big Apple feel to the Javits Center last night.

The Cosby Show, set in Brooklyn and taped in New York, was honored with the Impact Award. The cast, including co-creator Bill Cosby and Phylicia Rashad, reunited.

“It means that not only are we still relevent today…We made some sort of a difference, and some sort of an impact 25 years ago,” Sabrina LeBeauf (above) , who played Sondra on the hit sitcom, tells FishbowlNY.

The Cosby Show, which helped resurrect NBC from 1984 to 1992, had another “impact” on television viewing.

“I don’t see any show on now that impacts people in that way… [that] family show [did],” Geoffrey Owens (who played Elvin) says. “I think it’s fair to say that, unfortunately, that’s a little bit … of the past right now.”

Casey Patterson Promoted to Exec. V.P. at MTV

Casey Patterson has been named executive vice president, event production, talent development, and studio relations at MTV Networks Entertainment Group. Patterson previously was senior vice president of Spike TV and TV Land.

The Entertainment Group is comprised of several cable networks, including Comedy Central, Spike TV, and TV Land.

“Over the last several years, Casey Patterson has overseen the development and launch of some of the most exciting and original events on television,” says Doug Herzog, president of MTV Networks Entertainment Group. “The vision and passion she brings to these events is unmatched.”

The first woman hired at Spike TV in February 2003, Patterson has been instrumental in making the network a true television destination for men.

At TV Land, she oversees production of the TV Land Awards, which pays tribute to classic and contemporary TV shows.

Patterson is based in New York.

TV Land Promotes Two Executives

TV Land, the cable channel that features a mix of classic programming with original shows, promoted two people executives today.

Kim Rosenblum has been named Executive VP, marketing and creative division. In 2008, Rosenblum was appointed to the newly-created position of TV Land senior vice president, marketing and creative.

She was instrumental in the recent double marketing campaign for “Hot in Cleveland” and “Retired at 35,” the largest marketing campaign in TV Land history.

“Kim’s strategic insight, creativity and rich understanding of the TV Land brand and consumer will insure continued success for the network,” said Larry W. Jones, president, TV Land. “Advertisers and consumers will both benefit from Kim’s unique ability to filter the channel’s goals and to communicate messages effectively to our target audiences.”

Rosenblum joined parent company MTV Networks in 1993.
