LAT In 90 Seconds

37826756-13165334.jpgThe Hollywood Trades: While the Reporter and Variety battle to the death (the Reporter’s death, that is), LAT is maybe kinda sorta upping its Hollywood coverage. A John Horn piece proclaims that in the recent agency swapping, “Endeavor was … the biggest net winner by a wide margin, while UTA was seen as taking the toughest hit to its much-heralded comedy business. (Of course, one poster points out that Paradigm can barely pay the electric bill.)

Remember when Paradigm bought Writers & Artists Agency?

Of course, the most important question is what will happen to the much-coveted UTA job list?

408.jpg

Not content to just get clients by snatching warm bodies off the street, super agency UTA has teamed up with Veoh, the internet TV entity, to produce a single site to aggregate the high volume of talent and filmmaker submissions it has received since opening its doors October 2006. Or since LonelyGirl 15. From the press release:

UTAO has openly encouraged aspiring digital artists to submit their work for representation consideration, bucking the common agency practice of prohibiting unsolicited submissions.

Meaning that once the release is signed, UTA can plunder good ideas at will.
