The Year’s Worst Movie Title

Like most sane moviegoers, Entertainment Weekly writer Clark Collis initially reacted to news of a new Uwe Boll film called Blubberella the same way he would to the prospect of a Joaquin Phoenix documentary. But it turns out a plan by the “craptastic filmmaker” to make a fat female superhero tale with Lindsay Hollister is dead serious.

Collis is uniquely qualified when it comes to the writing transom of EW on Uwe. Back in 2006, the journalist was deemed a “p*ssy” by the filmmaker after being ordered to abandon the idea of participating in the 2006 critics-vs.-Boll boxing match extravaganza known as “Raging Boll.”

Jim Samples has stepped down as head of the Cartoon Network, after the edgy if stupid Aqua Teen Hunger Force marketing effort blew up (or looked like it could) in Boston.

Sarah, the Dutchess of York, aka the other Fergie, gets a producer credit on a project about Queen Victoria that she brought to Graham King. King and Martin Scorese will produce.

As if the first one wasn’t bad enough: Disney will release Haunted High School Musical, the movie, in 2008. Then High School Musical on Mars in 2009. And then in 2010, High School Musical: Naked Study Hall. Don’t you wish.

Columbia is going to turn Metal Gear Solid into a movie, because all those other video game movies have been so awesome. At least Uwe Boll won’t direct.

Sharon Stone Sequel : Queen of the Razzies

Basic Instinct 2 has been nominated for seven Golden Raspberry Awards, including picture and actress for Sharon Stone. Nominations traditionally come out a day before the Academy announces Oscar nominations. Brian Hegleland has won both in one year, but not for the same movie. Thus far, only James Coco and Amy Irving have been nominated for both awards for the same performance–both lost, as well. FBLA lives for the day a Razzie-winning anything gets an Oscar.

Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Simpson are competing with Stone, and we predict that Simpson has a long future ahead of her in this category.

The Damon Brothers comedy Little Man also had seven, including worst film and actor (both Shawn and Marlon Wayans).

Others up for the worst film award include BloodRayne, Lady in the Water and The Wicker Man, which seems unfair. Surely big budget bombs should have their own category, but then so should Uwe Boll.
