Full Nelson | Angry Yelpers | Loopy Lauer

ShutterstockWillieNelsonandSonGalleyCat: On the heels of a third studio album in 16 months (To All The Girls…), on which he duets with everyone from Dolly Parton to Sheryl Crow, 80-year-old Willie Nelson has decided to give the autobiography thing a second spin. We’ll take this burst of artistic activity as yet another compelling argument for the full legalization of marijuana.

PRNewser: A class action lawsuit filed by some of Yelp’s most active unpaid reviewers confirms the old adage. You know, the one about panties never being an acceptable substitute for paychecks.

TVNewser: Savannah Guthrie told Jay Leno that Matt Lauer referring to singer Adele as “Estelle” was the “greatest moment of my life.” Guthrie might need to get out more.

Phil Jackson Holds Court at the Alex Theatre

At one point during last night’s Live Talks Los Angeles event at the Alex Theatre featuring Phil Jackson and the coach’s former locker room charge John Salley, a Lakers fan sitting directly behind FishbowlLA bellowed, “Fire Jim Buss!” Never mind that the heckle-target is A) one of the team owners and B) a likely future Jackson brother-in-law.

First and foremost, Los Angeles still loves Phil, a sentiment on full display at last night’s sold-out Glendale Q&A. The talk was part of the zen coach’s very active media tour for his new book Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success and benefited from interviewer Salley’s humorous, insider approach.

For example, Salley led off with an anecdote about being hauled into Phil’s office and learning he was being released from the Lakers. Leading him to declare a change in that summer’s plans to smoking lots of marijuana.

‘Dandy Don’ Meredith Dies of Brain Hemorrhage

Former Dallas Cowboy quarterback and original “Monday Night Football” broadcaster Don Meredith died over the weekend after suffering a brain hemorrhage and slipping into a coma. He has 72 years old.

The best obit we’ve read on Meredith comes courtesy of Dave Goldberg of Fanhouse, who reminds us that aside from his sporting endeavors, Meredith helped coin the moniker “Tricky Dick” for Richard Nixon. Goldberg also remembers Meredith for his small role as an LA cop on the show “Police Story.” Meredith also played country music with Willie Nelson for a time.

An interesting guy to say the least. RIP.

California Medical Weed is Willie Nelson’s Best Hope

As you may have heard, country legend Willie Nelson was arrested in Austin, Texas for possession of six ounces of marijuana. He’s looking at six months minimum in jail, but could face up to two years. But Bruce Margolin, director LA’s of NORML, told TMZ Willie has a chance to skirt the charges — if he can convince a jury the pot was California-grown medical marijuana and he forgot it was on the bus. Like to see how the lawyers will play that one. “Ladies and gentleman of the jury, my client was baked out of his mind and completely forgot about that marijuana on his bus.”

Doesn’t really seem like it will fly, but for Willie’s sake, we hope it works.

Willie Nelson Baked on Larry King Live

Larry King
acts like he’s surprised one of his guests would opt to do his show high – let alone Willie Nelson. Gee, if he smoked a jay on the roof of the White House during the Carter Administration, you’d think blazing before a cable news show is small potatoes.

Make sure to watch the next clip of them singing. Yes, both of them.

FBLA Exclusive: Inside the New Microsoft Campaign

microsoft_logo.jpgNews has broke that pioneering funny man Jerry Seinfeld will be the spokesperson for Microsoft.

Top-notch ad guy Alex Bogusky is the brains behind the operation. The man responsible for making MINI Coopers cool when gas was still $2 a gallon. And perhaps the sole reason guys 18-22 think they have discerning taste by choosing Burger King.

Our insider says the whole campaign is focused on ‘everyday’ people using Windows in real situations. Some of the options the agency has been floating around have been a reporter on Humvee, an Obama/McCain speech writer, a DJ – a blues musician. There was a crew that traveled all over the world filming humanitarian workers.

Not to be out done by ‘real people’ there are tons of celebrities that the campaign may also feature. At the moment the names that have been put into the mix are Sarah Silverman, Willie Nelson, motorcycle rider Travis Pastrana, Matthew McConaughey and Ralph Nadar. Also in what seems like a direct answer to the Mac campaign – Rob Corddry and Stephen Colbert may also do a spot.

Most notable of the names is that of the late great Bernie Mac (insert lame pun ‘burning Mac’ here).

Yeah, it’s bigger than Seinfeld. It’s a $300 million campaign to convince people that the world’s largest software maker is also the coolest. As refugees of the Cola Wars in the 1980′s we think they could take that $300 million and just make Vista not meltdown every couple months. You know, ‘what’s the deal with my operating system needing a major downgrade to be functional?’

Boing Boing TV

Boing Boing TV, which looks a great deal like a mash-up of Archive.org intercut with Mark Frauenfelder and Xeni Jardin as the talking heads, has launched. It’s cute, if not groundbreaking. (Crazy was written by Willie Nelson, ya know.)

Fraudenfelder is hunky, in a wooden dad-like way, and Xeni looks the product of the forbidden love between Jadis and Rip Taylor.
