The Daily Meal Whets Appetites A Month Before Going Live

Buzz has been building steadily for The Daily Meal, the new site being launched by Spanfeller Media Group CEO and president Jim Spanfeller and overseen by editorial director Colman Andrews. You might remember Andrews for his work editing Saveur magazine. Joining Andrews is Valeer Murray, formerly of Forbes Traveler, who will take the title of managing editor.

When it goes live on October 15, the site will offer features like restaurant (and chef!) reviews, food travel recs, advice on entertaining at home, as well as recipes and other information on food, wine and cocktails.

Spanfeller, the former CEO of Forbes.com, has high expectations for The Daily Meal. He told Folio: that the site will be ad-based and that it “should generate roughly 2 million unique visitors per by the end of the first year.” The goal for the next three to five years is to have something between 15 million and 20 million monthly unique visitors.
