The First Issues of Popular Magazines

The Week’s photo blog has a fun post up featuring 17 covers from the first issues of popular magazines. The first People — published in 1974 — featured Mia Farrow on the front. Playboy of course went with Marilyn Monroe. And New York? Uh, New York.

Anyway, we love magazines, and it’s always interesting to see how far a specific title’s design has come since it debuted. For example, The Atlantic’s first issue, from 1857, looks exactly as old as it sounds.
