The Value of Page Six
The NY Post Page Six brouhaha brings back some fun we witnessed one day at Newsweek:
The scene: the old headquarters at 444 Madison Avenue. The time: probably 1989.
It’s one of the weekly editorial meetings in which top editors and production people huddle to go over the issue before layouts are
completed.
Talk of the town is that the New York Post is up for sale. Is it worth
reporting as a story?
Someone half-jokingly asks: “Should we buy it?”
“Just ‘Page Six’,” quips late, great editor Ken Auchincloss, allowing a wry smile.
