AARP THE MAGAZINE APPOINTS MARILYN MILLOY AS NEW DEPUTY EDITOR; QUENTIN NARDI AS NEW PHOTO DIRECTOR

WASHINGTON (May 26, 2009) -- AARP The Magazine, the world’s largest circulation magazine with more than 35.5 million readers, today announced it has promoted Marilyn Milloy to the role of deputy editor and named Quentin Nardi as the magazine's new photo director. In her new role, Milloy will manage the magazine's feature editorial staff, and oversee story lineup and content development. She will also work to expand the magazine's online presence and develop innovative, multiplatform content. As the new photo director, Nardi will lead the photography strategy for AARP The Magazine and contribute to the visual design of the magazine's online presence. Milloy and Nardi will be based in Washington, D.C. As the definitive voice for 50+ Americans, AARP The Magazine leads the publishing industry in reaching boomers and the 50+ audience, the largest demographic sector, reaching more than 24 million homes.

Milloy has served as features editor of AARP The Magazine since January of 2007 and most recently conceived and developed the print and online package that led to AARP The Magazine's first ever National Magazine Award: "1968: The Year that Rocked our World." Milloy's three decades of distinguished journalism include 13 years as a national correspondent and Southern Bureau Chief for New York's Newsday, plus a successful stint as Editor-in-Chief of NEA Today, the magazine published by the National Education Association.

"I think it's safe to say that since joining AARP, Marilyn has rocked our world, and we look forward to the invaluable contributions she will undoubtedly bring to her new role," said Nancy Perry Graham, Editor, AARP The Magazine. "I am proud and excited to have Marilyn as my partner going forward, helping me lead the magazine to new levels of greatness."

Nardi most recently held the position of acting director of photography for AARP The Magazine and brings years of experience to the team, having worked with numerous national magazines including Bon Appetit, Men's Journal, and Women's Adventure. Prior to joining AARP The Magazine, Nardi served as photo editor for Go Magazine and Ski Magazine, as well as deputy photo editor at Outside Magazine.

"Since joining the team, Quentin has cast a glow over the entire magazine with her warmth, charm, and passion for her craft," said Graham. "It is no surprise that the best photographers in the business feel the same way and we're lucky to have her on board."

AARP The Magazine is published bi-monthly and offers three editorial versions targeted to different life stages (50-59,60-69,70+) to empower readers with editorial written just for them. Geared exclusively towards 50+ Americans seeking to enhance their quality of life as they age, AARP The Magazine has interactive Web-based extensions, an experiential traveling road show and weekly syndicated radio and television programming.
