Time Inc. Recruits From Across the Pond
Layoff-fraught Time Inc. tapped Sylvia Auton, formerly the chief executive at IPC, to be one of its new vice presidents. In the position, she’ll oversee 80 magazines including Marie Claire and NME.
Auton became the CEO of IPC in 2003. For the past two years, she has commuted between London and New York every week.
Time Inc. purchased IPC in 2001, which isn’t expected to lay off any staff in the immediate future despite the struggles of the industry. Evelyn Webster, the managing director the IPC Connect division, will fill Auton’s role.
