Today in Celebrity Media Ventures

MK-AU093A_Adver_G_20090126220903.jpgCelebs and their attempts to take over the media are so cute. Don’t the know that having a “name” isn’t enough to make money in the media business?

No worries, apparently. We’ll just keep plugging right ahead, throwing cash into a black hole. First up: pastor Rick Warren.

Purpose Driven Connection, the quarterly magazine from the Barack Obama Inauguration speaker, debuts this week. Subscriptions to the Readers Digest Association publication will include “access to a Facebook-like Christian social-media Web site and DVD guides for leading a prayer group.” The company hopes it can capitalize on the ridiculous success of his book, The Purpose Driven Life.

But Warren’s not the only one with a new venture!

In other celeb news, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens is getting his own reality show on VH1. We can’t imagine the program, which remains untitled (although there are some good options), will endear TO to his already pissed off teammates. But we’d still rather watch this than almost anything else on TV.
