Tom Junod Responds To 2,000-Word Slate Swipe

That whole thing about Ron Rosenbaum rabidly disliking a profile of Angelina Jolie by Tom Junod in Esquire and posting a 2000+ word rant entitled “The Worst Celebrity Profile Ever Written”? Fellow Slater Timothy Noah wasn’t too happy about it, and neither is Junod, who called it an “odd act of inflicted anonymity.” Junod tells FishbowlNY:

I didn’t think he did it to spare my feelings. My feeling, reading the piece, was that it was pointed — an effort to heap a snub on an attack. It just solidified the air of “I-went-to-Yale” condescension that clung to the piece. I mean, he went to Yale, like, 40 years ago. Does he have to mention it in everything he writes?
