Trump Wannabes To Create LA Times Supplement

NUP_105860_0026.JPG

Next Sunday on The Apprentice, candidates will vie to create the best supplement for the Los Angeles Times promoting a new brand of hogwash mouthwash.

Hell, why not let them edit the whole thing? Can’t be worse than the clowns running the place. (And boy–who signed off on this ill-timed tie-in?)

In today’s Romenesko, Gary Dretzka comes to much the same conclusions, writing:

If the LAT and other major mainstream papers remain squirrelly about such faux pas, and are willing to pull entire sections from publication at the first whiff of controversy, how do they expect to compete in the Wild West of the Internet?

Dretzka agrees with FBLA about the need for a gossip section, too:

Will this incident impact any discussion of adding an edgy gossip column to the LAT, either in print or the Internet? Newsworthy liaisons are a staple of rumor-mongers, and add the kind of spice readers seem to like with breakfast reading.

Arrow and Kinetic take opposing tactics: one team adopts a sexier approach for the supplement, the other trusts science. Loser gets Andres Martinez’s job.
