CBS bets that broadband access is going to jump in quality over the next few years, and when it's poised to supplant TV, CBS wants to be there. To that end, today CBS News unveiled its new 24-hour on-demand broadband experience, ready to boldly go and "meet the demands of a 24-hour digital universe," according to CBS News president Andrew Heyward.

Viewers will be able to access on-line conten to customize their newscasts, choosing from "exclusive Web content, the current day's CBS News broadcasts, its archive of more than 25,000 news pieces, or in many cases, video that has yet to be broadcast."

Also on tap: an upcoming blog called "Public Eye"
edited by National Journal "Hotline" editor Vaughn Ververs (most recently of Tucker takedown fame). Heyward says the blog will offer "a wholly new effort at transparency in the newsgathering process."
