Tyra Banks Technically Not Covering Michelle Obama

tyra8508.jpgYesterday we wrote that Tyra Banks was (weirdly) set to appear on the cover of next month’s Harper’s Bazaar dressed as Michelle Obama. Apparently this was a bit of an exaggeration. Turns out Banks will appear on the cover as herself and dresses up as Michelle for a presidentially themed photo shoot inside, wherein she “pays homage to Michelle Obama and Jackie Kennedy with pearls, slinky black shift and curly flip, draped against a Barack Obama lookalike.” So slightly less weird, but only slightly. And since we’re on the subject, isn’t it time to put the JFK references to rest? Seriously, haven’t the Obamas accomplished more than enough to stand on their own without being propped up with Camelot imagery?

Meanwhile, the real Obamas are set to grace the cover of Essence, with an accompanying “upbeat” article penned by PBS newswoman (and favorite MTPer) Gwen Ifill.
