Union-Tribune Sold to Platinum Equity

union-tribune_t350.jpgWell here’s a nice bit of good news for a change. The San Diego Union-Tribune, up for sale since July, has found a buyer. The Union-Tribune is reporting that the buyer is Beverly Hills private equity firm Platinum Equity, and the paper was sold for an undisclosed price.

Executive vice president of parent company Copley Press Inc. Harold W. Fuson Jr. said Platinum “emerged from that process as the bidder best equipped to maintain the Union-Tribune’s position as one of San Diego’s leading institutions.”
