Who is Peggy Noonan?
Well, number one, she’s been a bit of a money maker for Rupert Murdoch this spring: according to today’s longish profile by Jacob Bernstein in WWD her “Declarations” column at the Wall St, Journal has generated more online traffic for the site than any other regular feature. That said, Brian Williams thinks she should be a Pulitzer Prize winner. The staff at the New York Times apparently thinks she’s make a great columnist (Modo? What say you?). And Radar thinks she may be the next Tina Brown (with some seeming Time/Space Continuum issues). What she isn’t? According to Bernstein, Noonan is no Arianna:
Some Democrats — noting the affectionate feelings she has expressed for Obama — have begun to wonder if Noonan might do a complete ideological flip, becoming this year’s Arianna Huffington. This seems unlikely, however. Huffington is the woman who came to oppose the entire conservative agenda. She jumped ship and suggested that others do the same. Noonan’s the woman who stayed on the ship, organized a rebellion and suggested tossing the captain overboard.
