Will Ferrell Helps Bring Huge Ratings to Univison Mexico vs. Colombia Soccer Broadcast

This Fishie was at the gym Wednesday evening, when he happened to glimpse up and see Will Ferrell looking completely lost during an appearance on the halftime show of a Mexico/Colombia soccer match. The sound on the TV wasn’t up, so we couldn’t hear the interview, but it was readily apparent that the actor spoke absolutely zero Spanish. As it turns out, we were right. Asked in Spanish for the name of his new movie, Ferrell responded “Chicharito.” The film is called Casa de mi Padre. He responded “Chicharito” to all subsequent queries as well.

Ratings for the game were huge, perhaps assisted by Ferrell’s appearance, but probably not. Univision’s LA broadcast had more viewers in the 18-49 demo than ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX combined. Nationwide, the game averaged 4.3 million viewers.
