Will Ferrell Launching Solo Show On B’way

Will Ferrell is coming to Broadway. The Ex-SNLer is working on a solo show for the fall that will include significant political content. Producer will be Jeffrey Richards (The Homecoming) and director will be Adam McKay (Anchorman, Talladega Nights)
According to The Politico, who landed an interview, the show will include an interactive political component:
“Will came up with this idea of playing a candidate who says absolutely nothing and refuses to commit in any single direction, ever, for fear of losing supporters,” explains McKay.
“Basically, the play will be a one-night town hall meeting with this candidate running for president,” adds McKay. Ferrell is writing the show on his own, and then McKay will step in to collaborate on the next draft of the script.
Plans are still tentative, McKay says, but early ideas call for audience members – both planted actors and real-life ticket holders – to pose questions. Ferrell, who loves to ad-lib and got his showbiz start as a member of the Los Angeles improv group The Groundlings, is looking forward to having scripted and unscripted parts of the performance.
In addition, there will be a video element to the show, possibly TV commercials and other multimedia based on the fake candidate.
This will be good.
