WLTW Stays Number One in July PPMs, WKTU Jumps to Second

The overall July Arbitron PPM ratings are out, and it is great news for Clear Channel.

As per usual, WLTW/Lite FM is number one. But the perennial top-rated station lost some ground to sister station WKTU.

WKTU actually had the same 5.1 rating for a second straight month, while WLTW fell from a 6.6 to 6.0.

Adding to the Clear Channel triumvirate is WHTZ/Z100.  WHTZ slipped from last month’s 5.0 to a 4.9, but still good enough for a third-place tie.

WCBS-FM saw its second-place stranglehold loosen in July, joining Z100 with a 4.9.

Clear Channel’s WAXQ/Q 104 took up residence at fifth place, holding steady at 4.1.

WCBS-AM and Tropical WSKQ tied for sixth at 4.0.

More highlights from the ratings after the jump

Univision’s owned WXNY made big gains from 3.0 to 3.5.

CBS’ WXRK/Now FM jumped .4 to 3.1, while Talker WABC improved from 2.7 to 3.0.

Meantime, after flipping from Rock station WRXP on July 15, Merlin Media’s FM 101.9 registered a 2.5 for its ”new” interim news/music format.

No change for WFAN at a 2.8, while rival WEPN/ESPN 1050 lost .2 to .7.

Bloomberg Radio, which now has ESPN providing morning sports reports, gained a .1 to a rare 1.1 for July.
