Would You Buy This Magazine For $270,000?

Not-so-giant sale

First reported earlier this week by Radar, the sale of the beleaguered Giant magazine to Radio One has been finalized. The not-so-giant price tag?

$270,000.

That Giant commanded less than a quarter of the price of a studio in Red Hook shouldn’t be read into very deeply. This is, after all, a magazine that struggled to find its niche in the dudes’ category, and has since taken to hip-hop and R&B as its primary source of editorial content. But it has to be a little troubling for magazine publishers in the wake of Spin‘s underwhelming 2006 sale price.

Smokey Fontaine, the magazine’s editor, gets a CEO title under the new ownership.
