YouTube Adding 5 Minutes to Limit: Brace for ’15-Minutes of Fame’ Headlines All Week

Society is safe once again! Now you can have another whole five minutes of dramatic squirrels and Lady Gaga parodies!

BoingBoing reports:

Sources at YouTube tell us that online video giant will soon increase the maximum duration of uploaded video clips from 10 minutes to 15 minutes. The move may not mean much to some, but if you’re a YouTube uploader, the increase would mean significantly less chopped-up installments of longer form works, and subtly redefine the medium, given that YouTube is the largest video hosting service online.

And just to make it easier for everyone to write the really really lazy headline about YouTube and 15-minutes of fame – BoingBoing also reports there is going to be a 15-Minutes of Fame Contest from YouTube.
