Professional/Personal Overview
A recent transplant from Kentucky to Seattle, I am a freelancer specializing in environmental, education, and travel reporting. As an award-winning investigative reporter, I love digging into research and analytical pieces. I am also a travel writer with unique ties to two of 2013's top destinations: I spent two years as a reporter/photographer, then news editor, at a newspaper in Bardstown, Kentucky, recently named the Most Beautiful Small Town in America. Bardstown is right next door to my hometown of Louisville, Lonely Planet's No. 1 U.S. destination for 2013. I have won 14 Kentucky Press Association awards in the past two years for everything from photography to feature writing. My freelance work has appeared in such publications as YES! Magazine online and LEO Weekly, and I have written for the official Kentucky Derby program for the past two years.
