  Mike Dunphy grew up in Burlington, Vermont. After working ten years in Europe and Turkey as an English teacher and Peace Corps volunteer, he took up journalism.

After earning a master's degree in publishing and writing at Emerson College, he moved to New York City, where he makes his living as a writer and editor for print and web publications.

Predominantly, Mike writes about arts, culture, and travel but often goes beyond these subjects, especially as a contributor to Time Inc. publications, which include everything from Allstate Insurance guides to Caesars Palace magazine.
