Professional/Personal Overview
I'm an author, journalism professor and freelance writer whose work has appeared in Salon, the Atlantic Monthly Online, Premiere, Chicago Sun-Times, LA Times Sunday Magazine, TimeOut New York and Newsweek (as a stringer). My first book, "A Futile and Stupid Gesture: How Doug Kenney and National Lampoon Changed Comedy Forever" won best biography of 2006 at both the Midwest Book Awards and the Independent Publisher Book Awards. I am also the author of a first person look at the golf/spirituality world that will be published by Chronicle Books in 2010. I have written about everything from corporate law to golf, entertainment and small business. I bring a clear, concise and entertaining voice to the pieces that I write and am meticulous about research, self-editing and every other component of the stories I work on. I am interested in ghostwriting books as well as freelance television, radio and magazine work.
