  Alison Barker

Professional/Personal Overview
I am a contributing writer for a local news magazine, DIG Baton Rouge as well as a book reviewer for Chicago Reader, Philadelphia Inquirer, and Rain Taxi Review of Books. I've just re-located to beautiful Denver, Colorado, and I've plunged into the paddleboarding craze! I tend to discern cultural details of communities and I've got an eye for what makes a place unique, beyond its physical parameters.

I've written about plays, festivals, class actions suits, yoga, community traffic concerns, books, and most recently, food. I juice and cook, and enjoy writing about both.

I am also a fiction writer with work in Columbia Journal, Switchback, Monkeybicycle, and Frwiction: Review, among others.

I look forward to discussing cultural, literary, and travel project assignments with you!
