Professional Experience

As a freelance photographer, I've undertaken many types of projects, but my main focus is documentary and portrait work. Within those categories, I have worked with magazines, institutions, universities, musicians, artists, and chefs/foodies. My work is founded on telling the story of whatever is happening in the moment as truthfully, simply and beautifully as possible. I learned to shoot on film cameras and am deeply rooted in the darkroom, but have spent probably half my life in Photoshop as well. My goal when shooting, whether it is via a medium format Mamiya or a DSLR is always to plan carefully and do it right the first time as analog would demand, but to use the digital tools we have at our hands to save time and waste. In the past five years, I've also taught myself video and multimedia, and since 2009 have been incorporating video shooting and editing into my work.
