Writing Samples: Consumer Publications

The response to the first special section on osteoporosis (attached below) helped turn the Tribune into a national marketing tool for Erickson Retirement Communities. I was totally responsible for writing the health section (and played a significant role in story development) of the Trib from the Dec. 2004 to the Feb. 2006 issue, when its increased popularity (it became the company's #1 marketing tool) demanded we add extra writers and expand the department. I continued as chief health writer/marketing strategist 'til January 2009.
PHYSICIAN'S FITNESS, bi-monthly waiting room newsletter on excercise diet. Was editor/writer and coordinated virtual office among artists, writers, production house, freelancers, others.

Writing Samples: Marketing

One of several health advertorial sections for NY Times. Section almost didn't sell, until I restructured its theme and resolved conflict among several potential advertisers. One of 10 pages.
Six-panel tri-fold was one of several announcing new Podiatrist joining an Erickson Medical Center. Includes info on why podiatric care is critical.

Writing: Websites

Conceived and wrote first health website for ERC and first ever interactive site, which won a gold APEX award. Wrote monthly interactive quizzes, some of which linked back to features in our national newspaper, THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE. The symbiosis enhanced visibility of each, and Erickson overall.
One of first writers to move from print to Web/interactive and one of first for this site. One example of quiz format.

This story is a business-oriented feature with advice on contamination control in the bioscience industry. It's one of many features I've written for this magazine, to which I've contributed regularly since it's inception.
Articles ghosted for neurologists and other neuro-experts throughout this hospital's system.
