Professional Experience

Concentrating on music and travel in my freelance career, I have covered the cigar industry in Honduras; driven across Ireland in search of folk music; and interviewed a wide array of bands, from heavy hitters such as the Pogues and Phish to up-and-comers like the Heavy Pets. I also write about state and national politics as the Florida reporter for the South Florida Sun Sentinel. You can reach me at dansweeney1976@yahoo.com.

Showcase

General

I wrote this article on South Florida jam band The Heavy Pets for Relix Magazine's Spotlight section, a regular feature of the magazine.
I was sent by American Way, American Airlines' in-flight magazine, to Danli, Honduras, to tour a cigar factory and write a story on how some of the best cigars in the world make it from the tobacco fields, to the factories, to a warehouse near Miami, Fla., and finally to shops around the world.
