  Alison Dotson
Professional/Personal Overview
I am an unforgiving stickler for grammar, consistent style, and a clean layout. For more than ten years I've worked as a freelancer in the editorial field as a proofreader, copy editor, writer, and indexer.

The bulk of my experience lies in nonfiction books, but I also have a fair amount of experience working with marketing and sales collateral, scholarly articles and medical content, Web content, lifestyle articles, and fiction books.

I am a freelancer because I thrive on variety and love taking on new and challenging projects. I would love to hear from you and see how we might be able to work together to arrive at a fantastic end product.

"Alison is an excellent proofreader, writer and editor. She picked up on the copy styles of our various clients quickly and was a great resource for questions regarding their particular usage parameters, not to mention everyday grammar and punctuation questions!" Sara R.

"Alison was the go-to editor when we wanted an especially sharp proofreading eye. She never missed an error and knew the Chicago Manual of Style cold. My publishing manager and I still turn to her for a final ruling when we debate word and style choices, and we know that if Alison says it's so, it's definitely so." Kate B.

“Alison is an expert editor and proofreader. She added value to every project she worked on. During her tenure, she was responsible for ensuring that everything we produced had error-free copy. Plus, it meant learning the copy guidelines for each of our clients and making sure they were followed to a T. Clients trusted her implicitly.” Sharon S.
