Professional Experience

After 26 years as a newspaper staff reporter and editor, I've been freelancing regularly for People Magazine for four years on everything from heartwarming features and celebrity news to breaking murder stories to the pirate hostage ship captain to Ted Kennedy's illness and death to the troubled Massachusetts history of the suspect in the Alabama university shooting spree. I've also reported on a US-adopted Chinese burn patient and a nonprofit's free surgeries for battered women. For Money, I found the perfect family to profile in one of the best places to live. I still file travel, news and features to the Boston Globe and the Washington Post, and pieces to business sites, hospitals, profiles for university alumni publications and online features on professors' research. for their websites. Nonfiction authors have hired me for legwork and research.
