Professional/Personal Overview
Mushroom hunting in Yunnan Province, menudo in El Paso, the uncanny photographs of Hans Bellmer: Have a look at my clips, and you'll see what I've written on these and a few dozen other topics.

I'm an experienced reporter, writer, editor, and project manager, having worked in publishing (magazine, book, digital) since the early 1990s. My primary subject areas are food, travel, arts, media, and cultural history. I also have two master's degrees--one in English (criticism and theory), another in media studies--so my clients have ranged from consumer magazines to scholarly publications. I've done a fair amount of editing and writing for arts foundations, too.

An amenable and enthusiastic collaborator, I'm particularly good at helping clients to articulate precisely what it is that they want. At present I'm seeking both editing and writing assignments. I'm an experienced recipe developer and editor, as well, and am eager to take on cookbook projects.
