What's the mb Tip Jar?

The mediabistro.com Tip Jar signifies those individuals with the most experience, clients and relevant work history. We are not here to judge the merits of an individual freelancer's work. That's up to employers.

Here's what mb's Tip Jar coins signify:

• Freelancers earn up to one coin for "currently available to work" status
• Freelancers earn one to three coins for years in a specialty, expertise, or industry
• Freelancers earn one to two coins for frequency of work with given clients

EXAMPLE: A Freelance Writer with more than 10 years of experience, who has written in his/her given specialty (say HEALTH) for more than 10 years, and has been working in her selected industry (say "Magazines -- Large Consumer/National Magazines") for more than 10 years and had THREE client relationships with a high frequency of projects (let's say 3-5 per client in the last 2 years) will receive MORE COINS in his/her Tip Jar than the same freelancer with, say, one to three years of experience in the above categories, and/or fewer client projects.
