1st Man Asian Literary Shortlist Unveiled

The hubbub over this year’s Booker Prize has only just died down, but the Man Group is at it again, this time launching a literary prize on the other side of the world. The shortlist for the inaugural Man Asian Literary Prize was announced in Hong Kong earlier today, recognizing five authors from the region for works “unpublished in English”:

  • Jose Dalisay Jr., Soledad’s Sister

  • Reeti Gadekar, Families at Home
  • Jiang Rong, Wolf Totem
  • Nu Nu Yi Inwa, Smile As They Bow
  • Xu Xi, Habit of a Foreign Sky

The winner of the $10,000 prize will be revealed on November 10, with the press release assuring that he or she “can look forward to publication and wider recognition in the English-reading world.”
