33 UK Layoffs at Random House
News broke this morning that Random House has cut 33 employees in the UK.
According to Bookseller, the Transworld imprint lost a few employees, including senior publishing director Francesca Liversidge, Rochelle Venables, and Mary Vacher. The article also noted that Bodley Head editorial director Dan Hind was laid-off along with James Gurbett from the Secker imprint.
Here’s more from the article: “In an email to staff this morning, Random House Group chairman and c.e.o. Gail Rebuck said the company had been through ‘a difficult few weeks’ and said: ‘by facing the recessionary challenge directly and taking timely action we are securing our long-term future and strength.’”
