A Quartet of Harvard-Trained Editors with Career Advice
Late last Friday afternoon, we heard from mediabistro.com’s FishbowlNY that Harvard-themed mag 02138 is shutting down, a victim of what Manhattan Media euphemistically described as “the current economic environment.” But the links between Harvard and the magazine world aren’t completely torn asunder: Freelance journalist (and author of the forthcoming The Tall Book) Arianne Cohen (right) moderates a panel discussion on November 8 with four magazine editors who are also Crimson alum: Alix Browne (The New York Times Magazine), Christopher Cox (The Paris Review), Jared Hohlt, (New York), and Valerie Steiker (Vogue). Their advice on “how to break in, how to establish a career, and where the industry is heading” may well be of interest in, ahem, the current economic environment.
The event is sponsored by Harvardwood, a non-profit organization for Harvard folks interested in the arts, media, or entertainmet—but with a low admission fee of $5, they won’t be checking your diploma at the door.
