Hello: Is There Anybody Out There? As I write this late Thursday evening, with NY1 on the TV and this NYT metro dispatch in an open browser window, there's still no official word from the negotiating table as to whether the Transport Workers Union would follow through with its threats to bring the New York City public transit system to a standstill with an illegal strike. On the other hand, there's no deal in place, either, so it's still entirely possible that your morning commute could have been trashed. But this morning tells a different, if somewhat muted story: no deal has been reached, and TWU workers are striking -- but only on private bus lines. The subways are still running, and people are still expected to get to work on time. But are you, or did you decide to stay home anyway? And even though service is supposed to be "normal" is it really? Tell us all... Sarah adds: There's also a high degree of irony that I'm stuck vacationing back in my hometown because of bad weather -- so it's pretty likely that there aren't too many people going to work here, either...
