Artie Lange Is Too Fat To Fish

Howard Stern sidekick and former MadTV cast-member Artie Lange drew long lines of fans at a Barnes & Noble book signing in Manhattan yesterday.

Fans gathered to celebrate the release of Lange’s new Doubleday memoir, Too Fat To Fish. The big book has also inspired a super-wide billboard on Broadway, a stuffed Flickr photo group, and a chubby website (the photos above are from that Flickr page).

Here’s an excerpt from his memoir, a look back at his early life as a drug-addled stand-up artist: “Once I started to get regular stand-up slots around town, it was a no-brainer: There were three-day periods where I’d just stay up the whole time, chasing the dream and the high. I’d do a gig, score some coke at the club, and keep doing it until my next time slot later that night. I might go do another gig at another club and score some more coke there, then I’d go to after-hours places.”
