CNET Editor Self-Censors Digital Book for Apple App Store
David Carnoy published Knife Music with a built-in e-reader application, which caused the App Store to reject his book based on his use of "objectionable" language. He ultimately decided that the promise of ebooks outweighed the problem of changing his work. At CNET, Carnoy explained why he made the choice: "I decided to censor because it wasn't that big a deal. I changed it very little. It's more important to have people check the book out--along with the whole concept of ebooks on the iPhone. It's kind of virgin territory now, but it's going to be really big soon." Email This Post |
