Dan Brown Remains UndefeatedAs a Reuters dispatch reveals, the Supreme Court is rejecting the Dan Brown/Lewis Perdue case, which means that all the previous rulings which maintained that The Da Vinci Code did not rip off Perdue's Daughter of God have been upheld. "That's not to say there was no substance, but that they didn't want to deal with a messy inconsistency concerning federal adjudication of copyright infringement," Perdue comments on his case blog, where he argues that "Random House didn't 'win' on the facts so much as they won by court shopping—suing me in in a federal court where expert testimony is not allowed in cases like mine." Like many Democrats, Perdue is comforting himself with the knowledge that "the Supreme Court makes mistakes all the time." At least he doesn't have to pay Random the $310,000 they spent suing him.
