Editor & Publisher reports that Ted Rall isn't done slamming Ann Coulter yet. You might recall how he threatened to sue her for libel earlier this year; now he's posted a fake obituary of Coulter on his blog. The piece was rejected by an unnamed humor magazine, perhaps because it's painfully unfunny—and, remember, it's not like we're in Coulter's fan club here, so if I think the story's bad, it's gotta stink on ice.
Attempting to imitate "the deadpan style of the New York Times," Rall churns out one obvious jab at "the outspoken conservative columnist and the author of bestselling polemical tracts" after another. One clumsy example will, I hope, suffice: "Her grandfather Hunter Hart Martin was née Hunter Hart Wiessinger, but presumably changed his name for reasons of self-hatred." Yep, that sure sounds like the Times to me. Somebody want to gift Rall with a couple Onion compilations so he can learn what parodies of newspaper prose look like?
