If you didn't see the Daily News Saturday morning, here's a quick recap of Rush & Molloy's latest, tangential contribution to the Judith Regan gossipfest: Regan signed a book deal with Denise Brown in 1998, for a book called Nicole's Story. Problem was, she didn't actually own the rights to Nicole Brown Simpson's diaries, so those couldn't be included. Then, according to the insider who's sharing all this, it turned out Brown wasn't close enough to her sister as an adult to come up with enough good stories to fill a book, and HarperCollins cancelled the project when what she did turn in was unpublishable.
Honestly, I'm not familiar enough with the story to know how new any of that information is, since the book deal itself appears to be fairly common knowledge, but it does contradict the explanations Brown has given in the past, in which she rejected Regan's attempt to "sell my sister to the devil."
